Here at the Club W headquarters (#clubwhq), we're a diverse bunch with just as many varying wine preferences. Not all of us are expert winos, and some of us are brand new to the wine world and just learning, but what everyone enjoys is experimenting and discovering new wines. This month, five Club W employees share their favorite picks for July along with the homework assignment to document how they like to enjoy it. Here's what they said:
Kit – Operations Intern – 2012 Undercard Cabernet Sauvignon
"Undercard is my kind of wine – bold flavors with a lot of structure. I love the dark berry aroma and peppery finish. I took a bottle of it to my brother's house for a Sunday supper with him and his wife. The wine goes down smooth and was a great addition to a night with my family and a juicy ribeye!"
Piotr – User Interface Developer – 2013 Wonderful Wine Co. Rosé
"I started to enjoy Rosé a few years ago while I was still living in NYC. It was around the time I left my magazine job in order to freelance. I quickly took to the notion of being able to work anywhere in the city and spontaneously meet up with friends who also freelanced. One of my favorite places became WineBar in the East Village. It was here that I first had Rosé with a friend who worked in the fashion industry. Ever since then, Rosé became my favorite summertime wine. It's refreshing and something that I enjoy in leisurely moments. Now that I live in L.A., I continue to enjoy my Rosé at the end of the day or on weekends. It reminds me of NYC summers, especially the one when I decided to change career paths and do what I do now."
Danielle – E-mail Marketing – 2013 XO Viognier
"I picked the XO Viognier because I really loved the scent of it - it's super floral. It goes extremely well with spicy food - which is why I had it with chutney tea sandwiches!"
Ariana – Member Services – 2013 Relevé Rosé
"I love Relevé Rosé because it's refreshing and juicy - and perfect for unwinding at the end of a summer evening."
Pallavi – Product – 2012 Black Market Cabernet Sauvignon
"Black Market is from Livermore, an area that is not well known for its wine, but this wine is a real gem. I love that it has a little bit of a gritty edge that makes the wine unique and more robust that your average Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is rich and bold enough to lure you into a nap but with notes of dark cherry and mature fruits. Plus, it was fun working with a local artist on the unique label art."
