Italian Wine Travel

Category: Life

Italy is one of the world’s biggest wine producers, and with all 20 of its beautiful, unique wine regions, deciding on a travel plan can be tough. So Tastemaker Whitney Adams is sharing her favorite destinations — which, as an ultimate Italian wine aficionado, was quite a tough decision. See her picks.

To get the most bang for your buck, check out Piedmont. You also don’t want to miss Umbria, an enchanting little wine region just south of Tuscany.

It’s not just a plethora of wine regions that Italy has. Currently there are 350 official Italian grape varietals to sip throughout the country as well. Overwhelming? A bit. So again, we asked Whitney for her picks.

Try Nebbiolo-based wines like Barolo and Barbaresco. White and orange wines from Friuli are unique and refreshing, and Umbria’s dessert wine Sargentina is delicious. While many dismiss the wines of Sicily, they're fools for missing out.
